Charlotte Dawson: ‘My critics never watch the show’

"The only people who criticise me as a villain are people who've never watched the show," says Top Model judge Charlotte Dawson.

2013-08-01_0017Last month Charlotte Dawson announced she was standing down as an ambassador on cyber-bullying after being criticised for taking robust Facebook comments directed at her to the employer of the account user.

But she denies that her ambassador role was too much pressure, and says her judging role on Australia’s Next Top Model is easily misconstrued as villain.

“It’s definitely not too much pressure. I was on a University panel last night with professors and psychiatrists,” she recently told TV Tonight.

“But during the (Top Model) season there are a minority of people who get very confused as to what bullying is, and they think that being a judge on a Reality show is the role of the bully to threaten, intimidate and terrify and that’s not what the role is at all. But there’s a small proportion of people who unfortunately think that. So it’s better not to be called a bully when you’re trying to fight bullying because it confuses some people who don’t understand what bullying is.

“The only people who criticise me as a villain are people who’ve never watched the show.”

Dawson is currently appearing in her 6th season of Top Model in a role she has previously described as the “tough-love bitch.” Only Alex Perry has enjoyed a longer run on the show at all 7 seasons.

“Everyone has been positive, the ratings were strong for the first week once we got all the figures in. The audience responds to someone like Jennifer (Hawkins) because she relates to absolutely everybody.”

Dawson also recently announced she would be stepping back from the fame game.

“I started a new job this week working in real estate as an adjunct to my media career. It’s very much behind the scenes but it’s very exciting and very busy,” she said.

“But my main commitment is to Foxtel. That’s my #1 commitment but I decided that I’d like to venture into another career as well.”

Australia’s Next Top Model airs 7:30 Tuesdays on FOX8

  1. It’s simple.

The problem with Charlotte seems to be that she is happy to attack other people, seek out their blood and won’t rest until then are publicly embarrassed and ruined. This has been proven at least twice, once when she stormed into the office of a “troll” demanded he be fired and again with this Australia Post non-sense however it seems as soon as someone criticises her she is happy to cry troll no matter whether the person is correct or not.

There’s a difference between an internet troll and someone who whose views are not the same yet, Charlotte seems to be happy to brand everyone as an internet troll.

The reason “people who criticise me as a villain … never watched the show” is because they genuinely have better things to do then watch this clown pretend she’s an angel when she really isn’t.
