2013-08-12_1011FOX Sports website is adding a Paywall from Wednesday, as it joins the News Corp Australia news+ digital subscription service.

The move follows abandoned plans to embed News Corp sports journalists within the FOX Sports buildings across Australia.

FOX Sports CEO, Patrick Delany, has talked up the move, saying: “This is an exciting development for all sports fans as, for the first time, foxsports.com.au and News Corp Australia come together to provide a sports platform like no other.

“For the first time foxsports.com.au will feature the latest breaking news, analysis, and opinion from News Corp Australia’s unrivalled stable of sports journalists, covering all major sports.

“Where foxsports.com.au has historically served as a marketing device for our broadcast offering, it will be re-modelled to create a genuine authority for sports news on the internet, combining the highest quality journalism, video, and premium sports content available anywhere.

“Our revamped site will now add extra value to a news+ subscription whereby a sports fan will not only get access to the News Corp Australia sites such as The Daily Telegraph and Herald Sun, but also foxsports.com.au at no additional cost.”

A spokesperson advised FOX Sports subscribers will be able to sign up for a ‘Premium FOX Sports’ pass which gives them a full subscription to Foxsports.com.au but not to the rest of the news+ service but those who have a Foxtel Play or T-Box subscription, who won’t have it included in their subscription.

  1. Wow big vic you only pay $4.50/m in perth in sydney news limited is charging after the first month $40.00 per month for the same package you have .its just too much money . Especially as its all right wing propoganda . I subscribe to fairfax deal of $25.00/m full digital and sunday paper? At least its balanced reading.

  2. I subscibe to news+ since 25 June (via Perth Now and get the Sunday Times together with my package for just $4.50/m)

Great value for money considering so much events are happening around Australia atm.

  3. i dont pay to watch tv and i certainly will not pay to read sport on line . so it wont be missed . the gaurdian website is all i need for my sport and news and its free

  4. Where did you see the government is inept? Have you got a reference?

All economic indicators are that Australia is in the best financial condition of *all* the western nations. We have the highest median pay rates, we were the only nation not to slip into recession as a result of the GFC and our debt is the lowest compared to our GDP.

That doesn’t sound like a nation being run by an inept government?

  5. Where did Murdoch day he was against the nbn? Have you got a reference?

From what I have seen he is only against inept government. He’s not the only one.

  6. I fail to understand the real value in paying for news. Especially given the sickening right wing bias ever abundant in the MSM. I would happily pay for well balanced, well argued opinion pieces. The ABC is the only service that offers a fair voice.

  7. on the whole sports subject. live odds and betting has become illegal in Adelaide, yet I have noticed that foxtel is still allowed to air ads for live betting… I get that it is broadcast out of Sydney, but shouldn’t state laws affect what they can and can not show?

  8. Great….

so subscribers pay to have a fox sports news channel in a fuzzy SD picture thats mostly taken up with a ticker and massive score update down the right hand side, and we have to pay again for those same stories??

why did I come back to foxtel again……
