It's official. The former Voice judge is now the only judge from Season 12 to return to Idol.

It’s official. Keith Urban is returning as a judge on American Idol.
The former Voice judge is now the only judge from Season 12 to return, following the exit of Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson.
“Keith is going to return to the show,” FOX entertainment chief Kevin Reilly told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour. “The fans really liked him. Keith is a really funny guy.”
Reilly also hinted that rumours on former Idol judge Jennifer Lopez returning were mostly true.
“There have been discussions, but there is no deal,” Reilly said.
He also said that the new judging panel will “refocus our attention” on the contestants and that the format would be tweaked.
“It really became too much about the judges,” he conceded. “We want some comfortable judges to make it comfortable to view.”
Jennifer Hudson, Will.i.am and Dr. Luke also rumoured.

Dr Luke is a producer, composer and song writer. He has an article on wikipedia if you are interested. It lists the numerous pop stars he has worked with over the last decade or so. His input would be perfect for a show like Idol.
Dr Luke *is* a songwriter, a very successful one too. He’s collaborated with Pink, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Kei$ha and Britney just to name a few.

Dr. Luke is a great producer (he’s not a writer). I could see him on a show like this. He wouldn’t be my pick though.
@maxxdude: Dr. Luke is the writer of many of the biggest hits of the past decade or so. He’s wrote “I Kissed A Girl” for Katy Perry, “Who Knew” for P!nk, “Since U Been Gone” for Kelly Clarkson and other hits for Britney, Flo Rida, Jessie J, Rihanna and many others. He’s perfect for Idol because he is dispensable pop music.
Jennifer Lopez (not Hudson… shudder) should be their top priority to get back on the panel. I wish Steven Tyler was up for it too, they both had great chemistry and know their stuff. Dr. Luke would be interesting from a songwriter/producer point of view. Keith is a bit of nothing, but I guess he’s likeable enough. Will.I.Am… No. Adam Lambert… No.

I just hope that Ten or Eleven will show Idol next year.
Hopefully FTA keeps American Idol but Eleven is a better fit and wouldn’t require the bigger ratings like Ten are hoping for.
That’s great news for Keith, I think he makes a great judge. JLo is also a great judge and it would be good to see her back on the show. I would be interested to see what Dr Luke could bring to the panel. I won’t be watching this on TEN though, if it returns…
Yay for Keith! Great to hear. He’ll be pretty much a household name now like his lovely lady.
I would like to see Dr. Luke on the judges table. I’m cool with J-Hud (she would be able to bring the perspective of someone who’s been there) and the return of J-Lo and Keith. I dread the though of will.i.am though. If they’re serious about not wanting the focus to be all about the judges, then he’s not the guy for the job.

I am more interested as to whether TEN have learnt their lesson that American Idol just doesn’t rate well on FTA and should be back on FOX8, or at the very least on Eleven with SYTYCD-US.
