A Nine reporter doing a live cross was heckled and manhandled during a cross to the newsroom while covering Kevin Rudd’s campaign in Queensland yesterday.
News Corp reports cameraman Mark Jessop dropped his equipment to assist reporter Kerrie Yaxley after she was grabbed by some over-excited males, one of whom kissed her on the cheek.
Yaxley kept reporting during the kerfuffle, but only audio of the incident went to air which can be heard here.

A hazard of the job I guess, I remember when Tim Bailey got crash tackled lol
Agree with Wharto as in too many live crosses with no real point. But Kerrie Yaxley has being a real talent for years. I am glad Mark the Newscorp cameraman came to help. Reporters deserve respect no matter what.
Sick of these “live crosses” which are not impressive either technically or in story context. Unless a significant event is actually happening behind them they are just another filler where the reporter is more promoted than the story…..
David, do you know when it happened?
Kerrie Yaxley is such a class act, she handled it so well!
