2013-08-30_1641US drama series Longmire, starring Australian actor Robert Taylor, is getting a third season (it’s just not official yet).

The drama, which screens in Australia on GEM, sees Taylor as Sheriff Walt Longmire of Wyoming’s Absaroka County, returning to work following his wife’s death. It also stars Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bailey Chase, Cassidy Freeman and Adam Bartley.

“Thanks to the 5 million plus weekly fans (live+7),”  executive producer John Coveny wrote on Twitter.

“Young and older skewing alike! The call just came: SEASON 3 for #Longmire is a GO!”

However A&E and Warner BrosTV, which produces the series, had no comment but insiders have cautioned that the two sides have yet to finalise a deal (Deadline reports there has been speculation that such a deal could include A&E taking ownership in the show).

Longmire is A&E’s most watched drama with its second season finale pulling 4.4 million total viewers, 1.1 million adults 18-49 and 1.5 million adults 25-54.

Meanwhile another A&E drama The Glades, which also stars an Aussie in Matt Passmore, appears unlikely to go to a fifth season.

  1. Really like Longmire and thought the second season was particularly strong.
As for the Glades surely they can give the Glades just a few more eps, I mean hello with the way it ended on a cliff hanger just inches from a happy ending that would be too cruel!!!!

  2. Good that Longmire is looking likely to be renewed. They could do a better job with the longer story arcs, but I am enjoying it.

The Glades is OK in small doses but very formulaic and repetitive. Every episode they introduce 3 related suspects and just go backwards and forwards between them cracking the same jokes until the evidence has built up revealing one of them did it at the end. NCIS, Bones and Castle do a similar format but mix things up a bit better.

Would be a shame to leave it with a cliffhanger of the lead character bleeding out on the floor though.
