Sally Sara joins Foreign Correspondent

ABC reporter and Walkley Awards nominee Sally Sara is joining Foreign Correspondent.

Sally SaraABC reporter Sally Sara is joining Foreign Correspondent, to be based in Sydney.

“I’m thrilled about joining Foreign Correspondent and very grateful for the wonderful opportunity,” she said. “I look forward to getting back out on the road and bringing home stories from around the world.”

Sara has been ABC’s correspondent in South Africa, South Asia and Afghanistan, winning multiple medals at the New York Film and Television Festivals and two UN Peace Media awards.

She is also a six-time finalist in the Walkley Awards, and won a Member of the Order of Australia, AM, for service to journalism and the community. She was also South Australian Young Journalist of the Year and Queensland Journalist of the Year.

Foreign Correspondent Executive Producer, Steve Taylor, said, “Sally’s done some outstanding work over the years as a foreign correspondent in several postings and we’re thrilled to have her as part of our small, Sydney-based team.

“She’s filed many memorable stories from the field for us over the years, but now she’ll be able to spread her wings and pursue a wider range of stories around the world.

“Sally’s a warm, engaging and authoritative journalist. She’s tenacious and has a great rapport with many of the characters who figure in her stories and – importantly – a great connection with the ABC’s news and current affairs audience. I’m looking forward to her contributions.”

Yesterday she was also announced as Social Affairs reporter for ABC’s National Reporting Team.
