Seven still the one on Monday

Ratings: Nine's 80s theme night won its slot but it wasn't enough to stop Seven from taking line honours.

2013-08-27_1012Seven had a good run last night winning early evening from 6 – 8:30pm until Nine’s cleverly promoted 80s night took the lead. It wasn’t quite enough for Nine to claim it was “Still the One” but re-working a National Geographic doco and cross-promoting it worked well (loved those old idents!).

Seven network was 30.6% then Nine 25.9%, ABC 20.6%, TEN 17.8% and SBS 5.2%.

The X Factor topped the night with 1.43m viewers then Seven News (1.3m), Today Tonight (1.17m), Home and Away (1.00m), Mr. Selfridge (777,000), Deal or No Deal (488,000), Mrs. Brown’s Boys (342,000) and Talking Footy (341,000 in 3 cities).

Nine News (1.26m) was best for Nine then A Current Affair (1.03m), The Amazing 80s won its slot on 894,000, Big Brother (887,000), Hot Seat (674,000), Big Bang (526,000 / 282,000) and Footy Classified (356,000 in 3 cities).

ABC News (978,000) led ABC1 followed by Australian Story (847,000), 7:30 (785,000), Media Watch (707,000), Q & A (705,000), Four Corners (701,000) and Lateline (407,000).

MasterChef (811,000) topped TEN’s night. TEN News was 676,000, The Project was 664,000, Wanted was 457,000, The Simpsons was 371,000 and Blue Bloods was 237,000.

On SBS ONE it was Beat the Ancestors 252,000, Test Your Brain (240,000), Housos (210,000) and World News Australia (195,000).

Neighbours topped multichannels with 335,000.

Today: 351,000
Sunrise: 349,000
ABC News Breakfast: 56,000 / 39,000

  1. X Factor 2013 imo i think is the best season yet and its so much more enjoyable. The panel are great and the majority and i say majority because i think a couple of mistakes were made with contestants but most of them are really talented.

First time Today beats Sunrise with Sam in the chair. I think too. I can’t believe that stupid 80’s show won its timeslot. Look for more coming soon to a screen near you. I really hoped Wanted would improve but it seems the TEN brand is so tarnished that such good quality hard hitting shows like this one fail.

  2. The Amazing 80s is exactly the same as the NGC version, except some of the USA content was cut down to make space for the Australian stories. So I don’t understand the comment about it being different and all over the place.

  3. I can see Blue Bloods moving back to ONE next week after the low ratings. Its a pity as its a good show. Also I didn’t see it advertised, I just read it on here.

  4. Am loving the X factor but agree Nat. Bas. is not a good mentor and certainly has very stupid immature reactions, she really does need to grow up or 7 to get another judge.

  5. I would have liked the boy band X factor put together but I want Taylor Jai Dami one of them to win X factor.

I didn’t no who to watch footy classified or talking footy last night I keeped flicking channels.

I seen that 7TWO news at 7 comes from Sydney but it a Perth version why can’t GEM do the same and not have delayed news.

  6. I’m not a fan of Nat Bass on X-Factor, too loud and silly, but I’m pretty sure the judges don’t actually choose the songs for contestants. I’m certain the producers don’t trust these decisions to the hired talent.

  7. X Factor is much more enjoyable to watch without Mel B and her petty bitching. Like its stablemate AGT it is finally looking like the UK version. Well done Seven for tipping some of the money saved from axing AGT into a bigger show.

  8. @jumpjakflash

I agree with you. I thought Nat would’ve improved this year but she’s still the same, still making the wrong song choices. And she should’ve chose Straight Up instead of JTR for the live shows.

  9. I think Ten would probably be pleased with Blue Bloods numbers. Its a series that is the best part of a year old getting the same numbers as The Americans was.

  10. Great ratings for footy classified and talking footy which was helped by the on-going Essendon story. Perhaps we’ll see talking footy become a stable for seven’s late night Monday line-up from next year onwards andd hopefully in the 9.40 to 10.40 timeslot. Nine has mucked around too much with Footy Classified’s start time this year for me to care for the show anymore.

  11. Blue Bloods has bombed but who would be surprised – it failed on Ten years ago, was shuffled to One to get rid of a series or two, and the series served up now is a year old!!!!!

But on the upside, it has about the same numbers as The Americans had so will probably stay put for the rest of the year.

  12. Can I just say…Nat Bass is the worst judge ever. Her poor acts never have a chance. She knows nearly nothing about them after missing some auditions and all of boot camp. They really need to replace her…
