On Monday SBS 2 news show The Feed will look at whether you can buy Twitter followers and what it means for Twitter’s reputation.
In tonights broacast of The Feed, Jeannette Francis looks at the increasingly popular practice of paying people and companies to follow individual and company Twitter accounts and befriend them on Facebook.
Justin Bieber does it, Republican politician Mitt Romney does it and even 70 per cent of President Obama’s followers are bogus or inactive accounts.
The Feed finds out just how much a legion of fake fans costs and what this means for Twitter’s reputation.

There’s a difference between buying followers, and just the usual spam followers. I get ten or fifteen spammers a month following me and I’m nobody, I certainly didn’t request them, in fact I make sure to report them.
Why?…… do people really judge their worth by how many people, follow them on twitter? very sad!
makes sense, there is no way 42,439,983 people would be following a douchebag like Bieber. he doesn’t have that many fans…. surely? lol
