Thursdays a struggle but Footy Show tops demos

Ratings: Viewers were again pretty unexcited by Thursday TV offerings but AFL drama drove The Footy Show's demos.

2013-08-23_1015Viewers were again pretty unexcited by Thursday TV offerings (and bloggers are equally unexcited to file the results).

No entertainment show managed to crack the magic million. Some observations: ABC comedies dropped a little but still held up well. Interest in the AFL saga meant The Footy Show did good numbers in the demos. Today Tonight is in trouble in Melbourne. TEN News was down and Vikings was up for SBS.

Nine network won the night with 31.6% then Seven 24.9%, TEN 19.2%, ABC 18.3% and SBS 6.0%.

OzTAM Overnights: Thursday 22 August 2013

  1. Fridays slowly turned into a dead TV night like Saturdays. And now networks are treating Thursday as the new Friday. Commercial networks seem to only care about Sunday-Wednesday.

  2. I thought ‘Date’ was much better last night – it might have been in their interest to have screened that one first.

‘Bogan’ had a touch of the obvious last night, which they’ll need to steer clear of in future.

  3. I can’t believe many with an OZTam device still does Thursday night shopping?!?!
But there isn’t a great deal on offer. ABC is usually a possibility for me depending on what they show. currently holding my attention from recently aired Wonders of Life to comedies UMB and IAD!

  4. Those numbers for BB aren’t great, especially when compared to The Block. But I don’t think Nine would have much else to replace it with if they were to cancel it next year. More Big Bang?

  5. Big Brother made the right decision to move the Showdown eps from Saturday, but i guess Shelly and Michael are out of work! The tighter version of the games worked better, but nomination superpower gets lost in the change? Unless the winner twists both the nominees after and the next lot too?

  6. I’m surprise It’s a Date on the ABC isn’t doing better – I think it’s just terrific. All these well known actors out of their normal comfort zone, going on blind dates. Who knew John Wood was good at comedy, teamed with Denise Scott as a seeming anal control freak?

Terrific stuff – and well done to Peter Hellier for the concept. So much good work has gone into this program, it deserves to do really well.
