Vote to save nobody….

"Remember, these votes are not set in stone," says Sonia Kruger. Phew!

vtsIt’s important stuff at Big Brother, yes sir.

“Remember, these votes are not set in stone,” Sonia Kruger told us last night.

What a relief, Sonia!

I was really worried the little red square with no name and no percentage points was about to be evicted. Thank god it wasn’t set in stone!

I dare say Sonia’s script was written before producers had settled on their graphics last night which showed us bugger all in its first outing. The next time it appeared at least it had some numbers beside it and later some actual names.

But I digress…

More seriously, the first to go in Big Brother’s double eviction was 24 year old Melbourne student, Rohan, with just 6% to save. Not a great way to spend your birthday, but it was no surprise for the newest house member.

“I just kind of felt like the new guy and I didn’t really know my place in the House,” he told Kruger. “Ben is without a doubt my favourite person in the House, and I learnt a lot from him.”

It wasn’t much longer before 28 year old facilities manager from Melbourne, Xavier was sent home with just a 10% vote to save. At one point he didn’t look like leaving at all, defying Big Brother‘s rule not to cross into the “safe house.” I wondered if he was about to unveil a “Free the Refugees” banner next.

“Part of my journey was to find a balance with my emotions. There are a wonderful variety of people in here that I don’t think I would have ever met,” he said.

Awwww.

Now the double eviction is out of the way let’s bring on the campaign videos from the election candidates and give them something meaningful to talk about. It just might spill over into the zeitgeist.

  1. I think Rohan just got screwed by being put in late? What was the point of that? Seriously what was the point of him going in late? It just ensured he wouldn’t last long in the show.

Also, apparently this last week he was getting along great with everyone, everyone liked him, he was funny. We didn’t see any of that.

Also the package was the first I ever saw of his close friendship with Ben.

So I think he was always put in there to go out early. All for fake drama and drawing things out.

I don’t understand the support for Matt and Ben.

Ben is just annoying and play acting so much. Want proof he is play acting. He introduces who’s in the pictures he’s speaking to. Clearly showing it’s for the cameras. On top of that, the whole speaking out loud for everyone and the microphones to hear.

First and foremost, this is not entertaining.

People like Matt are nice guys…

  2. @thatsnicmeyers – Jasmin, nearly did get evicted last week. It was pretty much a toss up between her or Sharon going. She would have definitely gone if it was a double.

Sad to see Xavier go though. He seemed like a good guy, and i could see him bringing some funny moments down the line. Tully and Tahan got the votes for drama, whilst Ben got the ‘oh isn’t he sweet’ votes and Matt got the ‘he’s so hot!’ So whilst he was a good guy, and would have stayed in vote to evict, people felt more about the others in the vote to save at this stage.

  3. Geez. People really think Rohan was evicted because of the colour of his skin? Really? Rohan was evicted because he was the most boring housemate by a country mile and by the time he came in, everyone already had their favourites. He just wasn’t interesting enough.

If the viewers are as racist as some commenters are making them out to be, wouldn’t Jasmin have been evicted last week?

  4. If you end up fading in the furniture like Sharon or Rohan, and you don’t pull focus like the bigger players, the screen time is limited, and in Rohan’s case, he didn’t follow through on his original plan to be a stirrer. There was already a plethora of stirrers around the pot. Skin colour may have been an issue, but i actually think Mykayla would have stayed, she adds drama – that works for producers and audiences alike, or so it seems.

  5. I didn’t like Rohan, but he did have a disadvantage entering the house a week later than the others. Disappointing to see Xavier go when it should have been the negative sook Tully.

  6. DanR – I have to agree. As soon as Rohan entered the house I knew he would be evicted quickly. And if Mykala wasn’t saved, she’d be gone this week as well.

Why? Well if I suggest it has something to do with the colour of their skin, I’ll be attacked by all the people who begin every sentence with “I’m not a racist but…’

    It’s so predictable.

  7. Yes bring of the BB version of the election campaign, its got to be better than the real one.

Though you would need someone to explain to the Housemates that voting above the line in the Senate for the Greens could elect a Palmer candidate, and voting above the line for Palmer could elect a Green. It would be hard to figure that out from the AEC information alone!

  8. Would or could someone please explain how a mixed group of fuzzy brained weirdos who are completely and utterley non representative of any normal person, hanging out in a specially constructed TV set doing absolutely nothing, be regarded as gripping and exciting entertainment?

  9. Flat as a tack. Agree, lacking tension big time.

No surprises with Rohan – the old girl first week, followed by the non-white guy. Australia is so predictable.

I’m also not buying the ‘shy, woe is me’ Ben routine. He’s a skilled performer and working the cameras and the audience beautifully.

  10. Wasn’t really that surprised to see Rohan go, he didn’t seem to really connect with the others to the point they thought he was a mole. They stupidly kept asking him if he was. Yeah, if he is, like he is going to tell them he is!!!!!! I was shocked to see Xavier go, really thought it would be Tully, but it seemed to be close between them.

  11. Really bummed out over Xavier’s departure. I thought he was a great housemate. He must have slipped in between support for the buff boy and the quirky gay guy. I thought Tahan or Tully or both for sure would be evicted. These evictions have little or none of the grandiosity and hoopla that the Gretel/10 show used to have. I like Sonya, but the live audience shows are very waffly and strangely lacking in tension.
