Bumped: The Bachelor Australia

TEN moves The Bachelor to Wednesdays and replaces it with a nature doco.

bachTEN has pulled The Bachelor Australia from Sunday nights and moved it to Wednesdays, as from this Wednesday night.

It will now air at 7:30pm from Wednesday September 18, leading into Wonderland.

In its place next Sunday night is a nature documentary special, but TEN hasn’t indicated what will take the slot permanently.

Great Bear Stakeout With Billy Connolly
Narrated by Billy Connolly, “Great Bear Stakeout” follows the journey of Parsnip, and her baby cub, Pushki, as they battle to survive the vast Alaskan wilderness.

Last night The Bachelor pulled just 576,000 viewers -but was still TEN’s biggest drawcard for the night.

On Wednesdays it will have to contend with with Big Brother eviction nights from October 2nd.

  1. Season 3 of New Girl begins today (Sept 17th US Time), so I don’t think TEN would be far off showing it, as they played it a bit before (new eps were on TEN and old on 11 for a while), perhaps it’ll become a Sunday Night one now with Modern Family when that starts Sept 25th (US time).

  2. @Bogues – that is an easy question to answer as promos have been airing constantly when the next ep of The Bachelor will be. To inform viewers of new night, new time

  3. The thing that annoys me about these changes is that not many people are going to know that the time slot has changed.

How do Ten expect people to know that it has moved and therefore get viewers to tune in to tomorrow’s show?

  4. It doesn’t matter to Lachlan Murdoch if all these shows fail, the Murdoch family makes there money being the producers of these shows.
Channel Ten shareholders, (like myself) should stand up and say No, to Channel Ten using Shine Productions (Lachlan’s sisters company) from making any more shows for the network.
Australia doesn’t have a big enough population to support a program like The Bachelor and any producer worth there salt should know that!!!
You need millions of idealistic young women to make it work.
Lachlan please resign and go and work for Dad in America or London, but leave your lovely wife here!!!

  5. I agree with this move. Bachelor was not suited to Sunday night 7:30 time slot. The move should help Wonderland as well.
Ten can’t afford to sit around, doing nothing about ratings for this past week. The have to act and quickly. :-)11

  6. Modern Family will be a better alternative for the 7.30 Sunday slot (presumably). The Bachelor could potentially find a bigger audience on Wednesday and will at the very least give a bigger lead in to Wonderland than Modern Family repeats.

  7. Should have launched there. It isn’t event TV to compete with two entertainment shows.

The Bachelor/Wonderland would have similar demos and certainly a better fit.

  8. The damage has already been done. This was clearly the best slot for the show, but launching against X Factor and AGT on Sundays has sucked every little bit of pre-launch momentum that they had going.

Without any sort of lead, Elementary is now going to bomb as well. They should carry that show over to the beginning of next year and launch a new Sunday night lineup without such fierce competition coming from every angle.

  9. They must have been listening to us David. Next thing they should do is have first run Modern Family fast tracked at 7.30 Sunday in its place (given it does not start in US until following week, it is highly likely this will occur).
