Clive Palmer returns to Australian Story

Next week Australian Story will screen its second episode to feature mining billionaire and prospective politician, Clive Palmer.

When Australian Story first visited the personal and professional worlds of Clive Palmer 16 months ago, he was just beginning to loom in the national consciousness.

He was celebrating a few political successes having helped see off the mining tax and to dethrone Labor in Queensland.

Since then so much has happened it’s difficult for friends and foes alike to keep up.

He’s had an acrimonious break up with the Liberals, started his own political party, and to the astonishment of many looks likely to snag a seat in Federal parliament.

His fledgling PUP party may even end up with the balance of power in the Senate.

But as Clive Palmer’s power and profile have increased, so have levels of scrutiny, prompting criticisms he operates in a world of smoke and mirrors and grandiose claims.

With the unpredictable Mr Palmer on the brink of grabbing even more power, Australian Story examines his personal and professional history in the search for clues to his future.
