SKY News Political Editor David Speers will talk to former Prime Ministers John Howard and Bob Hawke at 6pm on Election eve, to mark the formal start of election day programming.
Australian News Channel CEO Angelos Frangopoulos said: “It’s a real privilege to have both Mr Howard and Mr Hawke agree to be part of the SKY News Election 2013 coverage. To have Australia’s second and third longest serving Prime Ministers pitch directly to the Australian people on election eve is a unique event for an Australian election campaign.”
Each interview will be Live and in depth examining each and every issue that matters to voters as they prepare to cast their ballot.
Mr Hawke has also agreed to be part of SKY News Election Night coverage. It is the third election campaign in which Mr Hawke has chosen to join SKY News on election night.
At 7pm* David Speers will anchor Election 2013: The Last Word, analysing the political campaigns of the past five weeks. David will be joined by Chief Political Reporter Kieran Gilbert, Political Reporter Ashleigh Gillon, Peter Van Onselen, Graham Richardson, Chris Kenny and Michael Kroger. SKY News Political Reporters Laura Jayes and Tom Connell will also offer their final thoughts from the campaign trail as both parties prepare for the final verdict.
At 9pm* with less than 12 hours to the official ballot opening, SKY News will air a special two hour edition of Paul Murray Live.
