Veteran tennis ace Lleyton Hewett leads the charge against Poland as Australia battles for a return to the Davis Cup top tier.

Starting this Friday night, Australia treks to Warsaw to battle Poland for a return to the Davis Cup’s World Group for the first time since 2007.

After his gallant fourth round charge at the US Open, Lleyton Hewitt is again set to fly the flag for his nation, with Bernard Tomic also on track to represent the Aussies in the singles.

Davis Cup captain Pat Rafter is then expected to select Hewitt to join big serving left hander Chris Guccione for the doubles.

It will be a tough assignment for the Aussies away from home on clay against the Polish team of Jerzy Janowicz, Lukasz Kubot, Marcin Matkowski, Mariusz Fyrstenburg.

Hosted by Todd Woodbridge with expert analysis from former Davis Cup captain John Fitzgerald, the Davis Cup clash broadcast starts this Friday night at midnight (12am Saturday) LIVE on 7TWO.

  1. @Armchair They always seem to just go for these 2 for Davis Cup probably to save some money…would be nice if they showed Fed Cup as well, they could have Stubbsy and Sam Smith commentating together!

  2. I would have expected to see Sandy Roberts as part of the Commentry team. dont mind JF and TW but SR is still good. I think this might spark further speculation that Sandy is heading to FOX Footy next year.
