Locations popularised in Home and Away were threatened in bushfires north of Sydney yesterday, with Barrenjoey headland  at Palm Beach under attack.
Walkers and sightseers were forced to take refuge at Barrenjoey lighthouse while helicopters water-bombed surrounding buildings and burning scrub.
Two teenagers fishing on the rocks on the Broken Bay side of the headland had to be rescued by police boat.
Cast members began tweeting on the fires:
We better write this quickly into the Home and Away story line.. Hectic fire in Palm Beach http://t.co/gejvoLJHmM

That photo is pretty amazing.
Luckily there’s an abandoned mine shaft to take shelter in!
@vinny not sure how the fires started but it wasnt lightning there were no clouds around at the time
I hope they got someone out there for some footage for the next big cliffhanger.
Strewth!
It would make sense to work this into the storyline unless they are able to keep the fire damages area off screen for some time until regrowth.
They never worked in the fire at Jackaroo Ranch (Summer Bay House) because I expect they did not want to burn down the most iconic home in the series.
Is that hot new doctor ok?
Wasn’t this a plot line on the show?
Fires deliberately lit ? Or result of lightning ?
I hope Sally’s ok
