Top of the Lake wins Emmy Award

Jane Campion's miniseries wins a Creative Emmy Award for Cinematography.

2013-03-12_2237Jane Campion’s Top of the Lake has won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography for a Miniseries or Movie at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles today.

The mystery miniseries was filmed in New Zealand for BBC, Sundance Channels and the UKTV channel and was nominated for 8 Emmy Awards. Today’s ceremony recognised most of the craft categories, with the Primetime Emmy Awards to take place in a week’s time. Top of the Lake is still up for a further 5 potential wins.

Screen Australia’s Head of Marketing Kathleen Drumm said, “The Emmys are one of the most significant international awards in television and this is well-deserved recognition for what is a world-class production.”

Dominating today’s awards was the HBO movie Behind the Candelbra with 8 wins.
