Johanna Griggs slams misleading New Idea story

"Just read yet another made up cover story in new idea," tweets Johanna Griggs.

Johanna GriggsBetter Homes and Gardens star Johanna Griggs has lashed out at New Idea for a cover story “Johanna Griggs: My shock news at 40”

Griggs took to Twitter, labelling the story as fiction and confirming she hadn’t spoken to the mag.

The irony is that New Idea is a Pacific Magazines publication, part of Seven’s own print stable.

The article was reportedly written from a series of quotes Griggs gave to News Corp publications and a previous story recycled from 2009.

The shock news turned out to be “the joy she’d be feeling at 40” with a second season of House Rules commissioned

News that was confirmed back in June.

No Idea.

  1. @ Medium_Strip…shame you ‘spoutted off’ withouthout reading My Knox’s story also…no attack…just reporting…
No one argued the facts, albeit rehashed…Ms. Griggs appeared to be annoyed the mag made out they had talked to her…and had not!….so that part was not ‘entirely accurate’…
Do you have ties to New Idea perhaps..to be so venomous

  2. Wasn’t it New Idea that published an article about Bec Hewitt being seen out with “her other man”, only for it to then be revealed that he was actually her brother?
    Brilliant…

  3. Jezza, you are absolutely correct. I’m glad that finally someone who feels they have the right to spout off on this subject has actually read the article.
It’s a shame that TV Tonight decided to go on the attack without even bothering to do the same.
For those who are interested in the facts, here they are:

1: The story is entirely composed of legitimate quotes by Johanna Griggs (albeit from other interviews, all of which are clearly attributed).
2: The story is entirely factually accurate.
3: The story is entirely positive and does nothing but praise Griggs and portray as a goddess.

It’s fascinating the number of people who have jumped at the chance to kick the mag without even bothering to read the story, and without questioning the claim the story is “made up”. How exactly is it made up – tell us? Be specific or go home.

  4. Can someone please confirm whether this is correct – I seem to recall a few years back Joh used to be the face of New Idea and do their commercials for a year or so. Or am I thinking of someone else?

  5. Questions will surely be asked about why such a high-profile Seven Network personality has featured in one of Seven-West’s high profile magazines. I’d say there will be one very angry CEO expressing his displeasure today.

  6. This wasn’t really a story, just a bit of rehashed old news. I don’t see her problem as it is not presenting her in a bad light or as far as I can tell putting out anything that is untrue.

Is she just annoyed because she did not get paid any $$$ for use of her name and image etc?

I read about this and thought that JGs reaction was as much as a non story as No Idea’s

  7. What is even more interesting is New Idea is published by Pacific Magazines which is owned by Seven West…

But should we really be surprised that a trashy celebrity magazine made up a story; going by my accounts Jennifer Aniston must have at least 20 kids given the number of times New Idea and similar mags has said she’s pregnant

  8. I have been stung a few times over recent years with our womens mags that come out each week…bought it to read a particular story…same…never even spoken to the person…whole lot…lazy journalism…most pulled off the internet.
