  1. The LFL will always have a supporter in me, I can’t understand how cricket has achieved the status it has, and the CGI-laced TV adds with explosions, flaming balls and Go-Go Dancers is an absolute misrepresentation of what you will get if you are stupid enough to buy a tivket to a game

  2. This will rate, because it’s on Seven. If it was on Ten people would be slagging this off and complaining the programmers are idiots, and there isn’t an audience- and it would get poor ratings.

  3. While the LFL may have had less-than-noble beginnings there has been a push for change since the sport has become international (a league in Canada, soon in Oz, Europe in 2015). Now that they’ve switched from lingerie to sportswear, the woman don’t show any more skin than many female track-and-field athletes.

    It is a shame that the sport has to be marketed in this manner to generate media attention but if it helps to raise their profile, and of women’s team sports in general, then I say it’s mostly a good thing.

    As always, we should defer to the opinions of the woman who actually participate. They take the competition pretty seriously and seem mostly content with how they are presented and represented.

    @Ruddeger – I actually LOL’d at that one.

  4. Im not sure it’s the outfits that are the issue – it’s the marketing. After all, most women’s sports don’t wear much, we just don’t call them the Lingerie Athletics League, or the Lingerie Gymnastics or Diving Teams, even though you’ll see more skin at those sports. Beach volleyball’s success has been underpinned by skimpy cozzies for years, not much difference between that and this.

  5. @Josh777. Completely agree. This wouldnt even get an FTA airing if they were not waring skimpy outfits. I will give this ago, dont know how long the contract is for but will atleast see how it goes. Yes 10.30 timeslot is anoying but hey if they put it onthe Weekend all the mothers and females would complain about it and how degrading it is too women. So in that case 7 has done a good thing here, but they have also opened themselves up for critisism if they dont pick up NBL or other less popular sports. I liked the Lingere Football League better. If you are a Legend doesnt that mean your not alive (dead). As others have said this is perfect for Maaaaaaaaaaaate.

  6. Good to see that LFL Aust. got a broadcast partner, even if it isn’t Fuel like LFL US. Delayed broadcast is to be expected (I think 1 week after the match?), but 10:30pm seems just plain insulting given the amount of time and effort these women put in. Don’t understand why 7Mate couldn’t play it of a weekend afternoon like Fuel. To below comments regarding the uniform, the same argument has been made by thousands in the US regarding their league but one main rebuttal trumps – if they weren’t dressed in these swimwear like outfits and played 3 hours games like their male counterparts, it wouldn’t be watched. Compare NBA and WNBA numbers for proof.

  7. this looks like fantasy football to me……please confirm it is real and not a joke…. ch9 need to respond, maybe a reality pole dancing championship….

  8. I agree with par3182, hardly seems fair that women are wearing hardly anything (at least in that picture) to play. Guess that’s just how they try make people watch it which is a shame as they should be being watched for skill not looks

  9. Women running around in skimpy outfits and gridiron helmets.. The very blokey 7maaaaaate is the perfect home for it! I’m sure it’s a serious sport but obviously the network isn’t taking it too seriously. Sorry ladies..

  10. So, let me get this straight…

    The Lingerie Footb… sorry, Legends Football League can be broadcast in High Def, but the AFL cannot?

    Makes sense to me…

    Nonetheless, these women are ridgy-didge and are very skillful. Wish them the best of luck and congrats on getting onto Free To Air TV
