Reports have emerged that WIN Television has abruptly shut down its news service in Dubbo, set to have a "sales-only presence."

2013-11-27_2348Reports have emerged that WIN Television has abruptly shut down its news service in Dubbo.

Dubbo-based staff are understood to have been let go, with WIN apparently set to have a “sales-only presence.”

Referrals to the WIN Television office in Dubbo are now being referred to journalists in Orange.

Dubbo MP Troy Grant has been led to believe that told local newspaper Daily Liberal, “Dubbo and its surrounds, I would imagine, provide significant news content to more than justify the continuing presence of a top line journalist and cameraman to cover all the news, good, bad and indifferent.”

  1. Really, how much can a “News Department” of one cameraman and one reporter cost WIN – in the overall scheme of things? Editing, production & presenting is done from Wollongong. Pathetic, Bruce.

  2. This is Disgusting, the WIN Network has always prided itself through its commitment to regional news and have always said regardless of ratings they’d continue to provide news but since then we’ve seen closures of bulletins (WA,SA & now Dubbo), the consolidation of news with bulletins being merged (riverina) and even presenting bulletins kilometres away from the region, even within separate states (Canberra news) even the cut of their afternoon bulletin when that had Nine Perth shows they don’t care about even some of the biggest markets. They only places WIN has gone somewhat above and beyond is in Regional QLD, presenting it locally and including three presenters and Tasmania where WIN offers a bulletin every night of the week, however the only reason for this is that WIN has to compete with 7 QLD & Southern Cross News….yet it’s not about ratings. Bruce Gordon is trying to cut…
