The Living Room: Christmas special

This week on The Living Room, rather than the usual 60 minute broadcast, this will be a 90 minute Christmas special of festive recipes, craft projects and decorating ideas.

Amanda Keller sneaks into the hotel room of Kristen Wiig and Ben Stiller (separate rooms no doubt!) and snags a selfie with both.

Reno: Christmas Design Challenge
Interior designer James Treble and super stylist Shannon Fricke go head-to-head in a Christmas design challenge. Given the themes of “classic Christmas” and “contemporary, colourful, Christmas” they each design the ultimate Christmas table, tree, gift-wrapping idea and craft concept for their table top. Crowning a winner is no easy task so it comes down to a Christmas gift wrap-off in the studio.

Food: Christmas Seafood Feast
It is time for Christmas lunch and the whole Maestre family has come all the way from Spain for a seafood feast. Miguel shows us how to wow family and friends this Christmas with easy seafood recipes: oysters with watermelon, chili and beetroot granita, grilled garlic prawns, salt baked snapper and a chocolate and caramel ice cream cake good enough to make you melt.

Pets: Backyard Barnyard
If you have thought of swapping the family dog for a pig, cat for a cow or goldfish for a laying hen, then Dr Chris Brown has the tips you need to turn your backyard into a barnyard. With a menagerie of farm animals in the studio, Chris creates his very own nativity scene and tells us all there is to know about bringing animals into the suburbs as working pets. After Chris milks the cow, Miguel uses the milk to make deliciously fresh egg nog.
