Hollywood break for rising Aussie star

After sending an audition tape via his agent, Mitchell Hope was taken to Hollywood and has landed a role with Disney.

2013-12-21_2211A young Australian actor on the rise has been hand-picked by High School Musical director Kenny Ortega and wooed by Hollywood for a role in an upcoming Disney telemovie, Descendants.

19 year old Melburnian, Mitchell Hope, has won the role of Ben, the benevolent son of Beast and Belle from Beauty and the Beast in the telemovie that will focus on the sons and daughters of Disney characters.

It’s a huge break for Hope, who has a role as young Tim Farriss in Seven’s upcoming INXS telemovie Never Tear Us Apart, after he was flown to Hollywood for casting sessions. He drew their interest after he submitted an audition tape via his Australian agent, BMEG.

Judy Taylor, Disney Channel’s senior vp casting and talent said, “We were intrigued by Mitchell’s natural acting style, boyish charm and winning personality, and when we brought him to Los Angeles to read opposite Dove (Cameron), it was apparent that he embodied the inherent good nature of ‘Ben’ and the sense of fairness that the character represents.”

He now has US representation with UTA.
