More than 200 guests attended the event at the Heath Ledger Theatre at the State Theatre Centre presented by Peter Wiltshire, Group Director of Sales and Marketing, Nine Entertainment Co., and David Mott, Channel Nine Perth Managing Director.

Local shows include Christmas in WA, The Wonders of Western Australia, Hot Seat WA, The Great Pubs of WA, Matt & Kim to the Rescue, hosted by The Block Sky High (2013) Perth contestants, and Kalgoorlie Cops (previously airing on Foxtel).

“There’s no doubt that Channel Nine is going from strength to strength, thanks to a spectacular year-round programming lineup, renewed energy in news, and a commitment to external marketing and local production,” said David Mott.

“Marketing is one of the key elements to our future success. We will have unprecedented exposure for our major brands in print, radio and outdoor for programs such at The Block, The Voice, and of course Nine News.

“Locally our focus is firmly based at a grassroots community level. We have exclusive sponsorships with 15 surf life saving clubs from Mullaloo to Mandurah and with the majority of councils in our broadcast area. These activations will touch and embrace every community in Perth as never before.”

Christmas in WA, the first of Nine Perth’s local productions, will screen on Sunday, December 15, at 6.30pm, celebrating all things festive in a truly West Aussie way. The Wonders of Western Australia, a highly successful series from the 1980s, will be “rebooted” 30 years later to showcase WA and the incredible transformations since the original series. Exclusive Hot Seat WA episodes will run next year while Kalgoorlie Cops takes a behind-the-scenes look to follow cops on the beat in Kalgoorlie, a town like no other.

A highlight of Nine’s new local shows is Matt & Kim – to the Rescue. In this major new local series Matt and Kim will undertake community makeovers each week in Perth and all over WA to brighten the lives of those in need. Their first mission, a much-needed makeover at the Salvation Army’s Oasis House, proved there is a wonderful series ahead next year.

  1. Sounds like a good move, but I think it will take a very long time for viewers to even notice these programs. Lifestyle and factuals don’t really interest me, but I wish them the best. My guess is that most of them will air on weekends, similar to what Seven does with Home In WA, Greenfingers, etc.
