Remembering ATN7

At 9am tomorrow Sydney switches off analogue TV and Seven will screen a 5 minute tribute to ATN7.

2013-12-02_1325At 9am tomorrow Sydney switches off analogue TV for good, and to mark the occasion, Seven will screen a 5 minute tribute to ATN7.

8.55am Remembering ATN- 7 Sydney.

A special presentation saying goodbye to 57 years of Analogue TV.

My understanding is this will air in all cities.

Melbourne and Remote central and eastern Australia make the switch next week, December 10.

  1. ATN7 analogue only played the 60’s vintage ‘My City Of Sydney’ night time closer with a schmaltzey voice over on the end. Looked too corporate, nut at least they did something. No other Sydney station bothered to do anything special. I still think the BTQ7 Brisbane analogue switchoff compile they rolled when they switched off is the best so far. We wait to see what Melbourne does next week, if anything?

  2. @Jason: I’m aware of that. The segment that The Morning Show put together was a tribute to the whole Seven Network but was timed for the anniversary of the launch of HSV as that channel was the first to go to air.

  3. @Andrew – If the title is “Remembering ATN-7 Sydney” can’t imagine it would be about HSV-7.
ATN-7 began broadcasting on 2nd December 1956. Happy birthday ATN-7.

  4. ” I posted a compile of the Canberra stations switching off the digital signal last year. ”

Woops! My bad. I of course meant “Canberra stations switching off the analog signal”.

  5. The event that launched a thousand YouTube videos. I posted a compile of the Canberra stations switching off the digital signal last year. Prime7 was showing the Royal jubilee concert from the UK and was in the middle of an interview with Rolf Harris when the signal was switched off.

After the business with Rolf Harris happened later in the year I considered taking the video down but I decided to keep it up as a historical record.

  6. Wondering if this will just be a rehash of the segment that The Morning Show screened a few weeks ago to coincide with the 57th anniversary of the first Channel Seven station (HSV).
