Ripper Street promo breaks Classification rule

A Ripper Street promo had too much violence to be played during a G rated episode of MasterChef.

2013-07-16_2336A TEN promo for Ripper Street, aired last July, has breached the Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice, says the media watchdog.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has found the promo on 23 July 2013, during a G rated episode of MasterChef Australia contained violence that exceeded the classification due its depictions of violence.

In response to the breach finding, TEN will be circulating the ACMA report to all members of its classification department and relevant programming and promotions staff. TEN has also given a commitment that it will ensure that any future promotions for the program are appropriately scheduled.

Taking into account TEN’s compliance history, ACMA considers these actions address the issues.
