Airdate: Sherlock

Nine has now set a date for the return of Sherlock around the rest of the country.

2014-01-27_0109Nine has now set a date for the return of Sherlock around the rest of the country, following its WA premiere last week.

The first of the three telemovies screens at 8:30pm Wednesday February 5.

The question on everyone’s lips will finally be answered when Sherlock returns with three brand-new action-packed adventures. How did he do it? And how will John take the news that his best friend faked his own death? Once again, the game is on for Sherlock and John.

“The Empty Hearse”
Two years after his death, Sherlock returns to London to discover that a lot has changed. However, he soon needs his old friend’s help when his brother Mycroft investigate an underground terrorist network planning an attack somewhere in London.

Expect the remainder of the eps to follow on subsequent Wednesdays in the ratings period (better hope the first one rates then).

  1. How can channel nine seriously justify starting Sherlock at around 8:52pm, which is over 20mins late??
It was advertised as starting at 8:30. Yet the pre-recorded The Block show went over.
They need to be more realistic and at least say 8:45 or 8:50 in their advertisements.
Is it really that hard to air pre-recorded shows on time David??
    Do they even care?
When will all the channels, not just nine, listen to tv viewers whom they need to get the ratings in.

  2. I’ve been really looking forward to both Nine announcing this as well as the story written here about it. Again thank you so much for both things. I hope it does alright in the ratings.

As for the arguments about the original being better then I recommend the Jeremy Brett series. It can be bought on DVD. That was the reason why I fell in love with the stories and characters. As well as the reason I read all the stories.

I recently rewatched both previous series of this. I think they are wonderful. Although I would agree both the second episodes are the weakest of each series. But that’s because the other four are really strong stories well made. Just a joy to see. You can tell the writers know about the original stories. I hope it continues.

  3. Loved the first series…not so keen on the 2nd.

Their take on ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ in the 2nd series was a big disappointment to me.

They weren’t brave enough to follow the story and have Sherlock out of sight for a large part of it.

  4. The first Sherlock Holmes story was written in 1887, I suspect its original readers have gone onto other things (worm food). This current incarnation of the story is actually incredibly strickly accurate to the original in terms of base storylines and characters. It is also one of the best TV shows in recent memory. However I doubt it was ever for everybody

  5. The first one rated better than Arrow in Perth (equivalent to mid 700s 5MC). Nine will probably be happy to leave it on on a Wednesday while Sochi is on no matter what.
