ABC1’s staple of Monday night shows resumes next week with Australian Story, Four Corners, Media Watch and Q & A all returning.
No synopsis details of any of the shows are available just yet, but someone please let Mr. Barry know I’ve been doing my best to watch over his patch during summer!
Monday February 3

I loved seeing the ad for these shows and look forward to most of them.
My crazy idea for testing the pop-ups is for the ABC to do largely what it did last year in the paranoid stuff they do for the first month of ratings. Including the nice new Next, Then and Later voice over. To establish a baseline ratings. Then on Monday night only take away the pop-ups for the next month. I choose that day because it is least likely to harm the ABC due to its iconic shows.
If that goes well choose another day to test for another month (so it becomes 2 nights ) . Hopefully a stable day to reduce the variables. If no harm is detected each month add a night until all 7 days are involved. Maybe re-test a night if there is a problem. That way there could be proof if it is needed. Keep the other stuff because it is only a test of pop-ups.
P.S. I hope the ABC can be a nicer place for viewers only…
