Sherlock on the way

Happy to report that Season Three of Sherlock is not far off.

2014-01-08_0007Happy to report that Season Three of Sherlock is not far off.

Nine has not revealed its Airdate but has now released previews for Review -a clear sign it will be with us sooner rather than later.

Ratings don’t kick off until February 9th but I wouldn’t rule out Nine screening these before that as a way to promote its upcoming programming.

At just three episodes these will probably play across three weeks.

Two new episodes have now played in the UK.

  1. I was rather disappointed in the first episode of S3, though the second was considerably better. The show’s becoming too self-referential for my liking and the cases are becoming simply incidental to the characters and their interplay, the exact opposite of S1 & S2 (a fault Doctor Who has been suffering from for some time now too).

Among other issues I think the increased visibility and involvement of Mycroft has hurt the series, it was better when he was a mysterious background figure. Now he’s just one of the gang and far less interesting because of that.

Overall, while Sherlock is still very good it’s not the show it was in seasons 1 & 2. It’s slips are beginning to show. Episode 3 had better be a blockbuster or S3 will go down as a fairly patchy filler season for a series that’s beginning to lose it’s magic.

  2. Thank you for this indication. I’ll look forward to actual confirmation. Both an ad on TV and a story here.

If I was being less ambitious with the desire for repeats. Then maybe just Series 2 on GEM. If they can think of somewhere it won’t cause any problems. At the very least I think the last episode should be repeated. To remind those without the DVDs what happened. As I’ve admitted if possible I’d try to watch it for the Sherlock ad(s ) .

  3. If January 19 is the airdate then I won’t have my Blu-ray from the UK before the show airs here. How disappointing.

I was very amused when the Series 2 Blu-ray turned up in my letterbox before 9 had even aired one episode of it.
