Set to launch on Thursday, April 10, Foxtel Movies Disney will offer classic and recent releases, including Disney Pixar films, as part of its Premium Movies & Drama package.

Disney XD, which launches on the same date, will include live-action, sport and animation aimed at boys aged 6-14.

Foxtel CEO Richard Freudenstein said, “Foxtel is proud to be the home of Disney and families with Foxtel will be treated to two new channels with something for everyone. Foxtel Movies Disney will provide our viewers with non-stop Disney magic and adventure, and with Disney XD for the first time we’re offering a Disney channel aimed primarily at boys drawing on the huge collection of Disney brands from around the world, providing the best in television entertainment to our younger audience.”

Foxtel Movies Disney is a magical new channel made up entirely of Disney’s much-loved movies. The channel will feature a range of classic titles and contemporary movies including recent releases, its timeless live-action and animated library films, as well as Disney-Pixar box office hits.

Disney XD is the ultimate destination for boys aged 6-14 with an exciting mix of live-action, sport and animation, transporting viewers into different worlds full of humour, unexpected fun, and inspiring action-filled adventures.

The two new Disney channels will expand Foxtel’s range of kids and family viewing to include eight non-stop children’s channels, and two dedicated movie channels specialising in entertainment the whole family can enjoy together.

The fun and enchantment of Foxtel Movies Disney (channel 404) provides ad-break free movies available in High Definition through the Premium Movies & Drama pack. Foxtel Movies Disney content is also available On Demand for residential customers and Foxtel Play subscribers, and through Foxtel Go.

Disney XD will feature the exclusive premiere of Star Wars Rebels, a new animated series from Lucasfilm that takes place in the time between Episodes III and IV. A Star Wars Rebels hour-long special and shorts will premiere on Disney XD this spring, followed by the series launch in October.

Disney XD (channel 708) delivers a triple shot of comedy, action and adventure and will be available to residential subscribers in the Kids & Music pack, and also on Foxtel Go.

  1. what this means is that the Disney movies we watch on Disney Junior will disappear and force us to pay for the movie channels…..on the other hand could be goodbye foxtel as they dilute their channels and push to the premium content….bravo foxtel programmers and accountants

  2. Seems like this is just their Disney family movies – what about their Buena Vista label?

Do we think this will include their Star Wars and MARVEL licences as well?
