The Block tipping record prices

The Block apartments are tipped to sell for around $2m each in early April.

2014-03-29_0129The Block apartments are tipped to sell for around $2m each on April 8, the highest-ever prices for the Nine Reality show.

Brad and Dale’s apartment is tipped to sell for around $2.25 million with Kyal and Kara’s $2.2 million, Alisa and Lysandra’s $2.05 million, and Steve and Chantelle’s $1.995 million, according to Melbourne property expert Greville Pabst, from WBP Property Group.

Producer Julian Cress has promised that reserves will be set at a reasonable price, which should help ensure an anti-climactic series.

“We’re in uncharted waters ($2 million),” he told News Corp. “It is a challenge. We have to achieve a 100 per cent clearance rate — to sell all four of them — on the day for everybody to make money.

“That is not a certainty. At Richmond (The Block 2011) they didn’t all sell on auction day.”

Couples keep the profit between reserve and sale price, with the highest sale receiving a further $100,000.

Sportsbet has Kyal and Kara as $2.20 favourites to win — just ahead of Alisa and Lysandra on $2.50 with Brad and Dale of $3 and Steve and Chantelle on $8.

I’ve visted all 4 finished apartments and I would tip either Brad and Dale or Alisa and Lysandra -both of which are actually rear apartments.

The finale airs at 7:30pm Wednesday April 9 with Big Bang repeats set to replace it the following night -expect The Voice from the end of April.

  1. I would suspect that some of the people with 2 million plus to spend are not going to want to be seen on TV. If they are super keen there might be some buyer’s agents there but I think the biggest problem with selling these properties is the publicity that puts some people off. Do you want everyone you know to know what you paid for your house?

  2. Could the televised auction sale night, also reveal an undocumented reverse ratings survey of at least some of the numbers who never watched this series of ‘ The Block’?

I of course refer to counting up the number of those who actually bid for the apartments?

Or is it confirmation, many of the Blockies dramas and all the so called construction dramas, and alterations/corrections, judges comments and verdicts have just been over hyped B/S for televised impact…I cite just one example of all drama that occurred around the waterproofing membrane certification, and including the breaching and repairs of this seal as late as the final days before the final reveal.

What are prospective buyers told/guaranteed( fact or fiction)? and it would be interesting to read the selling points of the roof top areas, after televising distressed tradies on hot summer days and/or Melbournes 4…

  3. You’d expect that the twins will get the lowest reserve because their apartment has no city view.

But they’ve done well with the void and massive kitchen, so I think they will win. All depends on their reserve and auction order though.
