They scored 54 points defeating WA friends Chloe and Kelly on 52 points.

In addition to the championship title they win the $250,000 prize.

“We won! Our families are going to be so proud,” said Bree. “I can’t believe that we did it.  Little engines that could, baby!”

“We can’t believe it. We can’t believe it. This has been the most amazing thing to ever happen to us in our whole lives,” said Jessica.

“Sorry, I mean apart from having kids and getting married and all that!”

“Our whole world has opened up for us now and we’re so happy to start a new stage of our lives. Bring it on!” Bree added.

Teams served up elaborate 5 course dinners for judges Pete Evans, Manu Feildel, Colin Fassnidge, Karen Martini, Guy Grossi and Liz Egan, plus all eliminated contestants and their own families.

  1. im happy they won. Its interesting we found out the same time they did. I reckon it would be nerve racking for both teams sitting down watching that final wondering if they won waiting for those final scores.

I bet as soon as the scores were read and the wa girls realised they lost I bet they both said we were better cooks and had a better menu then Bree and Jess and we should have won.

  2. I really can’t stand this program and watched some of last night because I’m an idiot and felt myself getting more stupid as I watched. Those 2 mums were excruciating to watch. Bree with her teenage girl exaggerated accent and Jessaaay who just kept crying.

  3. To all those people saying they won’t tune in next year – come on, resistance is futile, you know you will.

I’m obviously in the minority, as I thought this was a fantastic grand final. The two teams were so evenly matched, skill wise, and the momentum the whole night was flat-out. It was impossible to call who would be the probable winner until the final course, when the Mums ran away with it. Love the judging panel, they are fantastic. Agree that the winner’s announcement fell flat, but I think that might be because they film two endings, so that part of the show is always acted. It’s regrettable it has to be done this way, but the risk of results leaking before broadcast is too high. Also agree about Bree’s extraordinary accent. I thought Julia Gillard’s accent was beyond weird, but Bree’s is even weirder – Jess-ay!!!

  4. Hats off to 7 for hitting their marketing stride with a winning formula, but for me, this season seemed overwhelmingly constructed and fake. I dearly wish (in the instant restaurant rounds) the contestants ate at the same time as the judges. The food is already cold as it is, but watching them having to wait like puppies in training is consistently awkward.

I agree with Jezza that the finale seemed like a school rehearsal : “Now, let’s act happy!!!”. A once great show has sold out all integrity with this season. I was very disappointed. Yet it blitzed the ratings. Go figure.

  5. Did they have kids? Gee, they kept that quiet!! Seriously, if they said that one more time I was going to throw something at the television! Lots of people have kids – hell, Chloe had a kid and she didn’t feel the need to talk about him every second!! And that voice… Jessaaayyy – like nails down a chalkboard!!

And jezza – completely agree, the ending was woeful in terms of excitement. Why don’t they bring them back and do the announcement live?

  6. The ending when the winner was announced seemed really flat, could this be a result of filming 2 endings, ie they had to act happy or sad?

  7. @Rutzie

Perhaps if Chloe and Kelly had served up Confit Chicken for their second course instead of Confit Ocean Trout, they may have been luckier with ‘wish bones’ than they were with ‘fish bones’

  8. We won! Our families are going to be so proud,” said Bree. “I can’t believe that we did it. Little engines that could, baby!”

Will just translate so those familiar with her diction will understand

We won! Our families are going to be so proud,” said Bree. “I carn believe thaa we did arh. Little engines thaa could, baby!”

  9. How great was it to have the Captain back. I was hoping Chloe and Kelly would win but it wasn’t to be. It probably came down to the mum’s dessert being slightly better.

  10. I enjoyed the finale and thought Chloe and Kelly got a slight redemptive arc with the editing tonight. The amount of times Bree and Jess said they were doing it for their families though, if I was playing a drinking game I’d be unconscious on the floor! Everyone has families and I’m sure they all want to make them proud ladies!

Unlike last year I didn’t have a favourite of the grand finalists I wanted to see win. Although I thought Chloe and Kelly cooked the more interesting menu, Bree and Jessica just pipped them with their abilities so it was a very close race.

Hopefully next year they concentrate less on rivalries and personalities and more on food… but who am I kidding! They got the bumper ratings they were looking for and have found a formula that works, so next year I expect more of the same.

  11. 2hrs of my life I won’t get back. Really boring final just wanted them to get on with it to see who won so had it on in the background. I doubt it was that close and don’t think they were the best cooks in the competition. Won’t be tuning in next year.
