Dateline profiles Brisbane-born Jason Jang, who lives in South Korea as Hanbyul, the lead singer of K-Pop act Led Apple.

2014-04-18_1459Dateline this week will profile 23 year old Brisbane-born Jason Jang, who now lives in South Korea with his family where he is better known as Hanbyul, the lead singer of K-Pop act Led Apple.

“The reason why I looked into the K-pop industry instead of a singing career back in Australia was because of the perspective that Aussies have for Asian artists, and how difficult it is for an Asian artists to be successful in a western country. That’s the only reason I came back to my parents’ home country”, Jason Jang tells Dateline.

Growing up in Australia has been a huge advantage to Jason’s career, being the only band member who’s fluent in English, he is able to speak with international media and build Led Apple’s fan base outside of Korea.

As the band’s success continues to grow, these twenty-somethings have everything that pop stars have: fame, sell-out tours, gruelling schedules, however, they lack the one thing that most celebrities get, the rock star pay check.
