Dead heat as Seven and Nine tie ratings race

Ratings: The ratings are as tight as ever, with Seven and Nine in a dead heat last week.

2014-04-07_0036The ratings race between Seven and Nine is as tight as ever with the two networks in a dead heat for first place last week in Total People.

Nine fell in front in primary shares and demos.

The week was looking like all going Nine’s way but it dropped the ball on Saturday, when it slipped behind the ABC. That helped Seven rise, enough to tie for first place.

ABC: 18.1
TEN: 13.7
SBS: 4.6

The Block (Sunday) was the week’s top show with 1.73m viewers for Nine with other brands being 60 Minutes (1.42m), The Big Bang Theory (1.41m) and Love Child (1.27m).

My Kitchen Rules (1.66m) was best for Seven. Other brands were Resurrection (1.55m), Seven News (Sun: 1.33m) and Sunday Night (1.18m).

Death in Paradise (1.04m) topped ABC1 then Midsomer Murders (1.01m) and The Doctor Blake Mysteries (938,000).  On TEN it was TEN Eyewitness News (598,000), The Living Room (524,000) and The Project (7pm: 516,000). Vikings (279,000) was best for SBS ONE.

Nine won demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Nine won Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday. Seven took Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.

ABC defeated TEN every night of the week, plus Nine on Saturday.

Seven took victory in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, while Nine owned Sydney and Brisbane.

  1. This week Nine have the final of The Block, the launch of Mom, a double episode final of Fat Tony and the The Blacklist is on a production break til after Easter. They might win outright.

  2. I must admit to being a little confused for a few minutes, because when I saw Mediaweek’s tweets yesterday they had Nine in front.

    Then I realised TVT, along with a few others, reports still as a network, not individual channels.
