Nominees for the 56th Logie Awards were in attendance yesterday afternoon at Crown Towers for the announcement of the Most Popular categories in this year’s awards.
Julia Morris and Dr. Chris Brown, both celebrating nods for House Husbands and The Living Room respectively, hosted the event, with an introduction by TV Week Editor Emma Nolan.
Looking on were Gold nominees Scott Cam and Carrie Bickmore. Cam, Bickmore and Morris are also Silver nominees along with Marta Dusseldorp.
Also attending were Wentworth‘s Celia Ireland, Robbie Magasiva, A Place to Call Home‘s Brett Climo, Winners and Losers stars Melissa Bergland and Katherine Hicks, Wonderland‘s Anna Bamford, Selling Houses Australia / The Block‘s Shaynna Blaze, The Living Room‘s Miguel Maestre, Play Along with Sam‘s Sam Moran, The Time of Our Lives‘ Michelle Vergara Moore and Upper Middle Bogan‘s Michala Banas.
Julia Morris kept the laughs coming as she announced the nominees, managing to pause, comment or groan after each hunky male was announced. From Craig McLachlan to Dan Ewing “I mean why wouldn’t you?”, none of them were off limits.
But Johnny Ruffo inadvertently became ‘Johnny Roofo.’
Even Dr. Chris Brown got a gag in about the difference between Manus Island and ‘Manu’s Island.’
This year the Logies will announce the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer ahead of the ceremony, due to the sponsorship prize of a US trip and training at Stella Adler Acting School. As a result no Hall of Fame will be revealed in advance, with the recipient to be inducted on the night.
There is also no word on whether the event may switch to a Live broadcast after two years of Gold Logie leaks. And no word on whether we are due for a host this year.

Please put these Logies Live on Nine around the country. At least we don’t want another Gold Logie Leak.
@johntv Imagine if it was on Seven…you would have all the presenters doing promos for various Seven Shows & the Gold Logie would be named the MKR/House Rules Gold Logie. The show would run 5 hours to accommodate all the Seven ‘personalities’ having a turn on stage.
Kind of looking forward to the Hall of Fame inductee being a surprise this year.
and the last line should also include:
“and no word as yet if the show will run over time and include a ridiculous amount of cross promotion for the Nine Network”
Oh wait, thats already a given.
