My Kitchen Rules tops 2 million in non-ratings

Ratings: With little competition, Seven scores a cool 2.01m for its cooking contest.

2014-04-23_1052We may be in non-ratings but it’s hard to look past My Kitchen Rules scoring 2.01m viewers last night.

With little competition, the show had 571,000 viewers in Melbourne and 548,000 in Sydney.

That led into another 1.33m for Resurrection while the network enjoyed a huge 36.6% share. Nine was some distance behind on 25.5% and TEN just 15.7%.

Nine was not playing aggressively in this Easter non-ratings period while TEN appears to be yearning for the return of MasterChef, now confirmed for Monday May 5, and Offspring tipped for May 14.

Seven has made further changes to its schedule for next week with House Rules on two nights, a rest for Resurrection, plus the last ever episode of How I Met Your Mother.

On the back of the My Kitchen Rules finale, it will take a miracle for the network to not win the week.

Official ratings resume on Sunday.

  1. Well, that is amazing. How anyone can watch the annoying Sth Australian ones with the Bogan Forrest Gump accent (Jenneeeeee) is beyond me.
    So annoying and unentertaining.

  2. Masterchef is going to rate just as poorly as TBL did and I don’t know why 10 can’t see that. It rated poorly last year (just as TBL did) and TBL rated worse this year than last year.

The promos for this MC boats ‘the best ever cooks’. Why did these amazing cooks not audition in previous years? Like lots of reality show formats, the best contenders apply in the first few years, by Season 5 they’re left with the dregs. The graphics for MC also look extremely dated already – is that an arial font?!

It would have been a good opportunity to change the format and especially change the judging lineup/hosts but they have chosen to do neither (I guess they’re still burnt by MC Professionals last year with Marco Pierre-White). I have been told by a reliable source that they desperately tried to get Nigella Lawson as a full-time judge this season given her recent controversy and…

  3. I thought that The Voice was originally going to start on Sunday. David do you know why it has been delayed?
I expected it to go head to head with House Rules.

  4. David on a purely different note if Offspring is tipped to start May 14 what happens with Puberty Blues? I was under the impression it has a 13 episode order May 14 will only take it up to episode 10?
