They actually first did Letterman as a couch gag back in Season 5 in ‘The Last Temptation of Homer’.
Proof again that everything The Simpsons does nowadays is just a poor rehash of everything they did 15-20years ago.
It’s from season 23 episode 11.
It’s the couch sequence in “The D’oh-cial Network” from a couple of seasons ago with an added tag.
nice simpsons tribute
Maybe it’s been made for a future episode,as it’s Daves voice, and they’ve bought it forward and added the “We will miss you Dave” tag
I think I have seen that before (at least the last part where Letterman talks)

Guess 1: An ‘outtake’ that was never used in an episode. (It’s easy to add the “we’ll miss you” tag).
Guess 2: Newspapers (remember them?) always have their obituarys of the great and good ready to go, just in case. The Simpsons team could do the same thing.
Guess 3: Well, how long would it take anyway?
