It is a great shame that SYTYCD has been a turkey as it really is an excellent program. Those ratings are heart breaking and are worse than what Everybody Dance Now was getting when it was summarily yanked from our screens. No way will it return next year on numbers like that.

  2. oztvheritage April 18, 2014 at 8:42 pm -

Ten should have bought idol back in 2014 instead.

  3. ryan April 18, 2014 at 5:12 pm -

I really hope Ten try Dance again next year but leave it on one day for it to grow, it needs a few tweaks like less commercial breaks, Maybe ask Cat deeley if she can do it, bring over American judge Mary Murphy for a few eps and cut the show to 1hr. The actual dancing is amazing, staging and background music so no need to tweak that.

  4. Den April 18, 2014 at 5:01 pm -

Dance is definitely not coming back on those figures. Which is a shame, but a big part of why it’s like this is poor scheduling for its debut. Viewers are unlikely to trial something so far into the competition now

I seriously wonder what they will do for next year since TBL, SYTYCD sunk and I predict MCA will have poor ratings as well. I can’t see Idol coming back either.

  5. bettestreep2008 April 18, 2014 at 3:00 pm -

I agree with Randwick. Given the ratings have been so poor for SYTYCDA – there is no reason why they have to extend the show.

At this stage of the comp, the competitors should not be doing 2 routines each.

And no doubt when they get to the final 4 – they’ll be dancing 3 routines each to extend the show to 1.5 hours or more.

It’s a shame that this show has performed so badly cos it really is an excellent show full of wonderful dancing and the judges are very respectful and supportive.

I don’t see it being renewed next year but I don’t blame the people who produced the show.

I blame the Ten executives who dumped it in the middle of The Block and MKR series while those 2 shows were rating in the millions.

Bad decision by Ten execs – but should we be really surprised that this has all occurred under Lachlan?

I wonder when the finale will screen and whether it will…

  6. Gaz April 18, 2014 at 2:42 pm -

Yes I agree Janet King was great again last night. I suspected who the baddie was, but was never quite sure, as there were a few red herrings thrown in. Please, please, please can we have another series ABC.

  7. mason April 18, 2014 at 11:47 am -

Janet King was great, I knew who the baddie was but the twist was terrific. Best drama of the year so far for me but then I thought The Straits was terrific too.

  8. randwick April 18, 2014 at 11:42 am -

Good episode of SVU last night, but once again, TEN have ruined the ratings for this by playing dance till 9 instead of 830 – viewers are used to seeing SVU at 830, so, they probably switched on Janet King instead – great stroke of genius once again from Ten!

  9. Josh777 April 18, 2014 at 11:19 am -

Well I guess given everything lost numbers last night Dance done pretty well staying in the 300k range. I doubt TEN will see it that way though. It is truly a shame given the show really is terrific.

  10. Evan43 April 18, 2014 at 10:28 am -

These ratings might persuade the ABC to commission another series of Janet King……..good numbers for that show.
Ten are already promoting heavily the return of Offspring & Masterchef – those two vehicles are really their last hopes to retrieve something from the wreck of this year.
