$500,000? No thanks. Lisa risks it all for her Million Dollar Minute.

Million Dollar Minute will see its first contestant compete for $1M tomorrow after a contestant turns down $500,000.

2014-05-19_1809Million Dollar Minute will see its first contestant compete for One Million Dollars tomorrow after Lisa Paton won a whopping $500,000 today but turned down the prize to compete for one million dollars.

If the 38-year-old single mother from Mt Waverley wins the million dollars, the show will live up to its title for the first time since its launch late last year.

She has survived ten episodes but now risks losing $423,000 with three possible outcomes tomorrow:

· Win the contestant elimination round and then succeed at the Million Dollar Minute jackpot by correctly answering five questions in 60 seconds and Lisa becomes an instant millionaire with a place in Australian TV quiz show history.

· Win the contestant elimination round but fail at the Million Dollar Minute jackpot round and she returns to play the next day.

· Lose the contestant elimination battle at the hands of a new opponent and Lisa will leave the show with the ‘safety net’ jackpot of $75,000 plus $2,000 in safe money.

Host Simon Reeve said, “Lisa is by far the bravest contestant I have ever known, and this is the most tense I have ever felt as a quiz show host.”

Lisa Paton added, “A friend asked me to accompany him to the auditions and I thought since I was there I may as well have a go too…and now here I am playing for one million dollars.”

Tune in tomorrow to see if she can do it….

Tuesday, 20th May at 5.30pm on Channel 7.

  1. If Lisa wins the million tonight would her daughter be invited onto the set?

They should have a special show one day bringing back all the big winners.

  2. I have let all my friends and family know. I bet the questions in an actual million dollar minute will be hard. Only 1 hour til showtime!

  3. I expected it would take a while before someone was prepared to risk $425k for the chance to go for $1m. You could have to win a couple of nights to get 5 questions you can answer for the prize.

And a single mother certainly seemed likely to take $500m.

  4. @Gaz. Is it possible for someone to win $1,000,000 in one night on Million Dollar Minute? It is possible on Millionare Hot Seat (even though no-ones done it yet)

  5. Only two people ever won a million dollars on WWTBAM, and no-one had won a million on Millionaire Hot Seat, so I don’t get why people criticise the title of Million Dollar Minute. It is a far more interesting and engaging quiz show than Hot Seat will ever be.
