Axed: Super Fun Night, Community, Revolution, Suburgatory.

Bad news for Rebel Wilson. Also axed: The Neighbors and Crisis.

Screen Shot 2014-05-11 at 1.31.52 am.jpgRebel Wilson’s US series Super Fun Night has been axed by ABC.

The series, from Warner Bros. Television and executive produced by Conan O’Brien, was Wilson’s big shot at her own sitcom on US television.

Also starring Aussie Kate Jenkinson, it ended quietly earlier this year, awaiting a network decision.

Also axed was cult favourite Community, starring Joel McHale.

It ends after five seasons. The series was one of only two comedies to return to NBC’s schedule for the 2014-15 season (Parks and Recreation was the other).

The axe has also fallen on another comedy which airs in Australia through Nine: Suburgatory. It ends after 3 seasons.

Alien comedy The Neighbors, which aired in Australia on Seven, wraps at two seasons.

On the drama front J.J. Abrams’ Revolution, which has aired on Foxtel and Nine, will conclude with two seasons.

TEN may have sat on action series Crisis too long. It’s out after just one season.

  1. Man! I watched all of the first season of Suburgatory on an international flight and pissed off everyone on the plane with my loud guffawing. And I never laugh out loud. It will be sorely missed. *cry*

  2. Really terrible news about Suburgatory and Revolution. Kinda knew that Crisis would only get one season along with Hostages as both shows only had a premise which would never work past their first season.

  3. Suburgatory is the only show I’m disappointed about. I really enjoyed the first season, but felt that the writing quality and wittiness of the show declined in seasons 2 and 3. Hopefully next weeks finale ends with some closure.

  4. Absolutely disappointed with Suburgatory being cancelled! It actually got reasonable ratings in America, plus American website Tvbythenumbers stated it was 70% likely to be renewed. Why cancel a show that was doing good!

  5. am not surprised that the “comedy” Super Fun Nights got the axe. It was simply not that good.

I am a little disappointed to see Community go. But at least it did have a good run over the years.

  6. Shame about Revolution, at least it was xpress and HD on Fox8. Fox8 has a lot of holes to fill next season, maybe they can pick up the Flash, Gotham and the two Marvel shows from ABC(usa) before 7 and 9/GO get them and move them all over the schedule or not play them at all. They would be perfect shows for the demo of Fox8.
