Mike Larkan still wags the dog for TEN

While rival news bulletins begin to do their bit for lost pooches, TEN's Mike Larkan has been Giving a Dog a Home for nearly a decade.

Mike Larkan 3.jpgInteresting to note that Seven News Melbourne will be doing their bit for pets as weather presenter Jo Silvagni features a pooch from the Lost Dog’s Home in Friday bulletins.

TEN Eyewitness News Melbourne weather guy Mike Larkan has presented his Give A Dog A Home segment for nearly a decade -also on Fridays.

Larkan is also an Ambassador for the Lost Dog’s Home, based in North Melbourne.

In an industry where imitation is usually the kindest form of flattery, it’s good to know that the dogs will be the ones to most benefit here. Hopefully both networks won’t be primping the same pooch for the cameras.

While Seven will also share the love by alternating with Lort Smith Animal Hospital each week, TV Tonight understands that Seven’s Melbourne news boss Simon Pristel initiated a ’12 Strays of Christmas’ feature as Editor of the Herald Sun, many years ago. That’s still going strong too.

Woof.

  1. I just wish both 7 and 9 would get some real talent to do the weather, like someone who is not scared of the rain. It looks like Jo Silvagni would melt under the rain.

Also lets get someone who can actually present the weather. Our country is wide, i’d like to know more about my state not the other states.

  2. Mike Larkan had a dig at Seven last night doing his segment when he refered to his cross to the Lost Dogs Home as “an original idea”
If Seven are going to rip it off then surely do it on another night, maybe a Wednesday.

  3. Havent watched ten news on a friday for a long time but glad this segment is still going. Good cause and its good more channels are jumping on board. Seven definitely got their inspiration from ten though

  4. TEN could and should do that here in Sydney also…in fact would not hurt all news to donate a minute or two trying to rehome a cat…dog…whatever!

  5. Michael Schultz who presents the weather for Channel Ten Perth visits the RSPCA here in Perth every second Wednesday and reads the weather with a four legged friend.
