No US remake for Bad Education

America has opted not to remake UK comedy Bad Education after all.

Executives at ABC have decided not to go ahead with a full series after a pilot was shot earlier this year and shown to a test audience.

Sophie Clarke-Jervoise, managing director of British production house Tiger Aspect, said: “It was a great experience and the pilot was really good, but the competition is so strong.”

UK star Jack Whitehall starred in the remake, retitled An American Education, again as teacher, Alfie Wickers, relocated to the San Diego school system.

The series aired in Australia on our ABC2.

It was renewed for another season by the BBC in March.
