2013-09-12_1707UK comedy Big School has been renewed for a second season by the BBC.

David Walliams, Catherine Tate, Phillip Glenister, Frances de la Tour, Daniel Rigby, Steve Spiers and Joanna Scanlan will all return for more hijinks at Greybridge school.

Joining them will be Jimmy Akingbola who will set pulses racing at Greybridge as sexy new teacher Dr Dalton and Morgana Robinson a Fenella Forbes, a best-selling children’s author who arrives to give the pupils some advice on careers day. No-nonsense OFSTED Inspector Mrs Steele will be played by Sylvestra Le Touzel, whilst comedian Jack Carroll plays Dean, a new arrival at the school.

Michele Dotrice (Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em, Death In Paradise) will appear as Mr Gunn’s long-suffering mother and Karen Taylor will play Trish, the mother of one of the pupils at the school.

David Walliams says: “I am excited to be welcoming so many talented new faces to the show. And it’s great to be working with Jack Carroll, who of course I met on Britain’s Got Talent.

Mark Freeland, Controller, Fiction & Entertainment, says: “BBC One returns to the Big School staff room to find some half eaten biscuits, unmarked homework, the Head of Science asleep in the corner, but also some of the UK’s funniest & much loved comedy actors.”

The comedy airs in Australia on Nine.

All they need now is a comedy writer.

    Great to hear.
Enjoyed Season 1 – am a David Walliams fan from way back and Phil Glenister is magnificent as the grotty, sleazy PE teacher, Mr Gunn.
Yes, a bit OTT and corny at times but still good fun
