A new comedy project Timothy is set for the ABC by writer / director / producer Tristram Baumber (pictured, centre), about a high-flying businessman in Hong Kong who suffers a meltdown and ends up back at home with his parents in Wollongong.
Baumber’s self-funded comedy series The Cleanists, about 4 dysfunctional cleaners, has already aired in the UK and Ireland on Showtime.
Timothy precedes The Cleanists as part of Baumber’s output and is about to begin shooting with some well-known names. Set to air as a one-off project later this year, the signs are good for a potential series.
Meanwhile Baumber isn’t resting on his laurels, already launching a crowd-funding dream for The Cleanists second season via Pozible.
“We’ve attracted a lot of fans in the UK and the USA. The fact that Showcase TV and InfoTV have committed in advance to broadcasting Season 2 across Great Britain and Ireland is a huge vote of confidence,” he told TV Tonight.
“We’re hoping to raise $10,000 and we’ve made a campaign video specially, which we approached as a mini-episode in its own right.”
