Channel 31 Melbourne has been airing Punktured, an insiders look at the day-to-day business at body piercing studios.

Shot in Melbourne, the series exposes the piercers, punks, emos, goths, rockers and all types of people, from all walks of life, who want to modify their body through the ancient art of body piercing.

‘You would actually be surprised at the different clientele we have here at Punktured.’ Says Corrie Nicholson, a body piercer of 14 years experience, or ‘The Boss Lady’ as she is depicted in the series. ‘We get just as many suits and corporate executives coming in for piercings as we do punks, emos and rockers!’

As well as the more visible piercings of ears, eyebrows, necks and noses, the Punktured series delves deeper into body piercing, including nipples and nudie-bits… all caught on camera.

‘The show is definitely not for the faint-hearted. The Producer’s have filmed everything. And I mean everything! Girls and guys. At first, they thought it would be hard to find clients who were comfortable being filmed whilst being pierced. But surprisingly, many people were ok with being naked, or semi-naked, in front of a whole production crew! I guess if you’re getting a piercing, you’re already a bit of an exhibitionist, so why not go that one step further and do it all on TV!’

This week’s episode features a client by the name of Laura, who has come in for a consultation about a very unique and challenging piercing, two genital piercings in her labia.

‘That was tricky. There’s not that many professional piercer’s who have even done this type of piercing before because it’s so technical but also because it hurts the client a hell of a lot!’ Explains Corrie.

Does Laura go through with the piercing?

‘Well, you will just have to tune in to find out!’ adds Corrie.
