yotamSeason Two of Yotam Ottolenghi’s Mediterranean Feasts begins on SBS ONE next week, set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean.

Ottolenghi begins in Sardinia and Corsica, before heading towards the Balearics, the isle of Mallorca, and Crete.

Following on from the first season, Yotam Ottolenghi returns in this all new series exploring the unique foods, flavours and culinary traditions of the Mediterranean Islands. Each episode features a different ‘dream-holiday’ destination from Corsica to Mallorca and from Sardina to Crete. All destinations showcase amazing, envy-inducing island scenery with turquoise waters, blue skies, mountain farms, seaside towns, local markets, olive groves and winding roads.

Yotam meets local producers, chefs, farmers and food heroes with the aim of learning about their produce and how they use it. He then creates his own mouth-watering recipe, paying respect to the ingredients. His trademark charm shines through as he eagerly learns from locals, humbly tries his hand at local food making techniques with mixed success, and delights in every new discovery and landscape.

The series will explore how the islands of the Mediterranean that have been invaded and traded through East and West have absorbed and adapted the foods of the many civilizations, empires and nations that have crossed their shores, creating dishes that, although bearing testament to the history of the isles, are also extraordinarily local and unique. He will begin his journey exploring the wild, rugged beauty of Sardinia and Corsica, before heading down towards the Balearics and the almond covered isle of Mallorca, then on towards the complex island of Crete.

This series decodes history on a plate as it’s a cultural and culinary exploration, and a personal journey of inspiration for Yotam, providing the impetus for new flavours in his own recipes. Every minute of this series will have food-lovers drooling.

Thursday 19 June at 8.30pm on SBS ONE
