Update: Tracy Morgan improving, Rik Mayall died from heart attack.

Former 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan remains in critical, but stable, condition, in a New Jersey hospital, following a 6 vehicle accident on the weekend.

He successfully underwent leg surgery last Sunday and continues to show signs of improvement. His medical team remains optimistic that his recovery is progressing.

Morgan’s comic mentor James McNair was killed while two others, including his assistant, Jeffrey Millea, were seriously injured in the crash.

Truck driver Kevin Roper has pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide and assault by auto charges this week.

Morgan’s fiancée Megan Wollover watches over him, according to his representative.

“Megan remains by his side and is relaying the countless good wishes and prayers that his family, friends and fans have been sending their way,” the rep said. “In addition, Jeff’s wife asked us to pass along that Jeff has also shown much improvement over the past few days. She is very thankful for the love and support she and their family continue to receive.”

Meanwhile in news from the UK, it has emerged that Rik Mayall suffered “an acute cardiac event” following a morning run, his wife has said.

Barbara Mayall said “We now know that our darling Rik suffered an ‘acute cardiac event’ at our home around midday on June 9.

“He had just returned from his usual run and many people had seen him that morning.”

On Thursday she thanked the press “for their discretion” and “all the wonderful coverage”, adding: “It would have made him very happy.”

She added: “I am sure that you all know Rik’s response would be something along the lines of…..’ well thanks very much all of you………….now f—- off!!!”’

Mayall’s “lost” football song, Noble England, which was recorded for the 2010 World Cup but failed to chart, has jumped 27 places between Wednesday and Thursday.

On Thursday the song was just outside the top 10 at number 11, according to the Official Charts Company.
