Charlie Pickering back hosting The Project until mid-August

That was quick. Charlie Pickering is back at The Project desk.

2014-04-07_2021That was quick.

Charlie Pickering is back on The Project tonight as the show celebrates its 5th birthday.

But TEN advises hew will also guest co-host the show until mid-August. That’s despite his grand exit -and very long farewell speech- in April.

Presumably he will be in the chair (most nights of the week) until Rove McManus in mid-August (if you were Matt Doran, you’d really be feeling it about now).

Fingers crossed there will be no tears at his next exit.

“I tried really hard to get the Pickerings on Family Feud, and the network said if I did a bit of temp work they’d think about it. So survey says ‘Back at my old desk for a few weeks,'” said Pickering.

“I’m really happy to be able to help celebrate The Project’s fifth birthday. I hope it goes better than my own fifth birthday, where my friend Angus cried and hid from the clown and I knocked my cake off the bench and the dog ate it. I don’t know how Pete feels about clowns, but I’m still hopeful,” he said.

The celebrations continue as we speak to Masterchef Australia judge, Gary Mehigan. With Finals Week underway, Gary will gives us his insights into the final contestants ahead of the MasterChef Australia Finale on Monday, July 28, 7.30pm on TEN.

We catch up with British music superstar Lily Allen in the studio before she performs her first show in Melbourne on her Sheezus World tour.

Country singing legend John Williamson has had a long and celebrated career. He joins us to talk about the release of his 50th album, Honest People, and the release of his autobiography, Hey True Blue.

Plus, we get hot under the collar when we chat to the stars of 50 Shades of Grey, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, with a first look at their new film.

Plus our regulars Steve Price, Steve Vizard, Todd Sampson, Natasha Stott Despoja, Waleed Aly, Anthony Lehmo Lehmann and Fifi Box join us across the week.

6:30pm weeknights on TEN.

  1. Given Carrie’s excuse for ‘that doodle’, by saying that it was all Charlie’s fault, because she was showing the audience during and ad break what he often drew on his nightly wrap sheets.

Will we now see some of Charlie’s ‘doodles’ now he has been exposed, so to speak

  2. wow. I’m sorry but i love the project and charlie but this is just embarrassing. you don’t leave your show with such an extreme farewell, then return 3 months later. but whatever, barbara walters returned to the view as a guest 1 month after her retirement year celebrations. still, it’s just… awkward.

  3. Still miss Chatlie at the desk, so will be watching every night he’s on. Wish Waleed or Matt gets the chair from then on, as I don’t think Rove is right for it.

  4. Will be good to see Charlie again as without him there hasn’t been as much in-depth questioning offered (with the exception of Steve Price who always manages to ask the tough questions). I really don’t know how Rove will go with the show for 6 months, and unfortunately I think a news presenter (e.g. Matt Doran or Waleed) might have been a better choice when it comes to asking the tough questions. But I have nothing but faith he will be great for the comedy portion of the show. But back to the point of the story, welcome back Charlie!
