FIFA World Cup: final & closing ceremony

It's Germany v Argentina with Shakira, Santana & Wyclef Jean on Monday morning.

2014-07-11_1641Germany will meet Argentina in the FIFA World Cup final on Monday morning.

SBS coverage will begin at 3:30am AEST, hosted by David Zdrilic, along with guest panellists Zeljko Kalac, Jason Culina and Aytek Genc, with commentary by Martin Tyler. SBS Chief Football host, Les Murray and SBS Chief Football Analyst, Craig Foster will also be live from Rio’s Estadio do Maracana to provide their analysis of the match.

Shakira (strictly speaking she is Colombian) will perform “La La La (Brazil 2014)” with Brazilian artist Carlinhos Brown in the closing ceremony prior to the match.

Carlos Santana and Wyclef Jean will also perform live. Brazilian superstar Ivete Sangalo will perform a medley of songs with Alexander Pires.

Spanish footballer Carles Puyol will unveil the FIFA World Cup trophy alongside Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen.

The match itself gets underway at 5:00am AEST and coverage is due to end at 8:15am.

A replay of the match will air on Monday from 4.00pm (AEST).

Meanwhile the third place playoff will air on Sunday, 13 July, with host country, Brazil going head-to-head with the Netherlands, live from Brasilia. The coverage will commence at 5.00am (AEST) and will be hosted by Lucy Zelic, along with guest panellists Zeljko Kalac and Aytek Genc.

A replay of the match will air on SBS ONE, Sunday, 13 July from 4.00pm (AEST).

  1. I am looking forward to the World Cup Final, it should be a great match. I’m glad that SBS will be showing the match in HD & that Martin Tyler will be commentating, he is one of the best Soccer commentators in the world.
