History channel marks WWI centenary with H100: We Remember

History will mark the centenary of WWI with an 18 month programming initiative anchored by Steve Liebmann.

2014-07-29_1253On Monday the History channel will mark the centenary of the First World War commencing, with a dedicated campaign, H100 – We Remember, which will unfold over an 18 month period.

Steve Liebmann will anchor the campaign which features local and international titles, and interviews noted historians about remembrance, personal stories, battlefield strategy, the spirit of the diggers and myths and legends.

Liebmann will also play a key role during SKY News Live coverage of events including the centenary on August 4, Remembrance Day and ANZAC Day.

“The centenary of the outbreak of the First World War is an opportunity for all of us to reflect upon our nation’s military history and pay tribute to the men and women who have served our country over the past one hundred years.”

H100 – We Remember will launch with the critically acclaimed 6-part documentary series The World Wars on Monday, August 4 at 8.30pm EST. Featuring gripping dramatic scenes, stunning CGI visuals and interviews with contemporary leaders including John McCain, Colin Powell and John Major along with noted historians from around the world, The World Wars is an event that takes viewers on a ground-breaking ride through the last century.

The first landmark local production to premiere as part of H100 – We Remember is The Memorial, to start this November in the lead-up to Remembrance Day. Hosted by internationally renowned historian and television presenter Neil Oliver, this epic 5-part documentary series will feature unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the working life of The Australian War Memorial in the lead up to the centenary, interviews with leading political figures, unseen war relics from across the globe and the remarkable stories of our allied and enemy fighting forces housed within its famous walls.

On August 4, HISTORY channel will also launch a dedicated H100 – We Remember website.

The website features a unique interactive timeline taking users through a real-time digital journey, allowing them to experience how the war unfolded 100 years ago.

Key information and extraordinary stories not only from the battlefields, but from life at home can also be accessed by users, as well as newspapers headlines and famous quotes and speeches by key individuals through the course of the war.

The website will also include archive video footage of major movements, events and battles, giving users an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at our ANZACs on the front line.

The H100 campaign will continue throughout 2015 with an exclusive lineup of local and international programs commemorating our wartime history over the past 100 years.
