New docos funded for ABC, SBS.

New docos coming on Alberts records label, Australia’s passion for poker machines, and an outback hospital.

2014-07-31_0002Nine new documentaries for ABC and SBS have been funded by Screen Australia.

They include docos on Alberts records label, Australia’s passion for poker machines, how we repurpose public spaces, the Vietnam War and the daily work in the Emergency Department of an outback hospital.

Screen Australia has also announced its documentary guideline review process will be extended to accommodate further industry consultation.

CEO Graeme Mason said, “We don’t have the resources to fund every documentary so it is critical that we take the necessary time to further review our policy settings.”

  1. On the Let There Be Rock they’re drawing a veeeerrrrryyyyy long bow comparing the Albert Productions label to the mighty Motown empire!. Albert Productions was an in-house EMI label while Motown was the whole box-and-dice – studios, pressing and distribution of at least 6 labels including their flagship Tamla and Motown labels. Comparing Alberts to Motown is like comparing the tyre to the whole car!
