Party Tricks first look: ‘Asher Keddie’ running as Labor premier?

Video: Check out Asher Keddie as a potential Labor premier, in TEN's upcoming series.

2014-07-22_1301Look out Denis Napthine. Asher Keddie could be running as a Labor premier in Melbourne.

At least, her character Kate Ballard is in TEN’s upcoming drama series Party Tricks.

Ballard is running against the incumbent Premier and popular media identity David McLeod (Rodger Corser).

But party lines collide as part of their long and complicated history, and both are sitting on a well-kept secret that could derail both parties by election night.

The 6 part series, which also features Angus Sampson and Adam Zwar, is filmed at multiple locations around Melbourne including the Parliamentary Chambers at Parliament House. Adding to the realism, a Victorian election will also be held later this year.

  1. Looks like it will be a mediocre, undistinguished, run-of-the- mill, formulaic and derivative mixture of The Good Wife + The Politicians Husband/Wife + Veep.

People would be well advised to watch either House of Cards, The West Wing or The Party Animals to see how its done properly with good scripts and some decent acting.

  2. Politics is on the nose in Oz and people will see the content of this showand say it’s not for them, without even sampling it. Of course, it doesn’t help that it’s on 10.

  3. Seven: Lower House Rules – putting the bitch back into the ballot
Nine: House-sat starring Lachy Hulme as every main male character

Think I’ll stick with Borgen on SBS.

  4. I like the sound of the show, and the production values look good, but for me Asher Keddie plays character Kate Ballard too similarly to Nina from Offspring.

  5. Saw the preview come on last night during Masterchef… or was it HYBPA… but anyway, to say I was intrigued is an understatement.

    *awaits 7 and 9 clones*
